May 23 conversation – Doug was speaking about moral authority and said something that really resonated with me. He said a plurality of consent can define morality. Boy is this a true observation. I am seeing it happen everywhere, especially during this cycle of elections. Say what the supporters want to hear and be funded deeper.
Jan, that statement caught my attention, too. This election year will be extremely interesting, but I am not optimistic about the process making much sense. The Republican convention, though, may hold some real surprises.
If you’ve listened in during the morning show, you have heard us lament the fact that party politics are now little more than personal turf wars and have little to do with ideologies and meaningful solutions. Parties themselves are more like vigilante organizations than idea machines. I no longer put any hope in them.
