Dr. Don Clark of Creation Moments, along with Jim and David, explains the science behind the mysterious limnic eruptions of Lakes Monoun and Nyos in central Africa which killed over 1700 people and some 3,500 livestock. Could the same phenomena have occurred in Egypt at the time of the Exodus, convincing Pharoah to release the Hebrews?

Check the analysis the gas – probably hydrogen sulfide – deadly to man and animals. So not likely for Egypt, as the angels killed only the first born.
Ken, history suggests that the firstborn of the upper classes in Egypt typically slept in the favored downstairs quarters, while poor people generally slept on roof tops. If that is true, and if the gas was, indeed, CO2, it would have suffocated all life to about 10 to 15 feet off the ground. That is based on the records of the Lake Monoun and Nyros limnic eruptions. That would explain why it was the firstborn who suffered the brunt. All highly speculative, but not without some scientific basis. Thanks for your thoughts!
