Advent, Part IV: Doug Greenwold of Preserving Bible Times gives us two possible explanations as to why Joseph and Mary, each of David’s clan which claimed Bethlehem as its home town, would have wound up in a podunk village like Nazareth from whence nothing good could come. We also explore the lambing fields just outside Bethlehem on a July (or August) evening some 2000 years ago …
Jan, you’re welcome. I needed to hear this, too. 🙂
Jim, thanks for asking m question about Nazareth and Bethlehem. I didn’t know the history before and had never correlated the Isaiah scripture and the Naphtali land location as the reason some people from the tribe of David would settle there after they left Egypt. Context and culture of Bible times is so important. I am going to listen again so see what I missed the first listening because I was thinking about what I just learned, and probably wasn’t paying to much attention.
