For goodness sake all you who are focusing on the “wine”.In my experience, those who have sin typically focus on OTHERS sin. Luke 6:37 seems appropriate; Do not judge, and YOU will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven………
I was an alcoholic and it was causing a lot of problems so I quit drinking. I have no problem with someone having a drink tho. Just don’t let it get out of hand.
Right on Alexis!
Want to follow science? Lose the mask. Want to follow the Bible? Lose to Winery. I receive creation moments daily emails and I thoroughly enjoy them and I enjoyed listening to your podcast and agree with the science behind not wearing masks. But I am offended to see you owning and advertising a vineyard on a ministry page. This is a stumbling block to many Christians and an offense to our Lord. The wine in the Bible was never fermented in a positive context. The fermentation is a picture of sin. My husband runs an addictions ministry for those dear souls you’re being a stumbling block to. I really mean this in love to reprove you. I wanted to share this podcast with others but I cannot promote it with such an advertisement.
Praise the Lord for your post, Alexis! I greatly enjoy their emails but cannot truly support their ministry, because of the booze. When I let Jesus take control of my life, I pushed the alcohol out…I’ve been a tea totaller for over 40 years!
Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise.
Alexis. Its people like you that “the lost” don’t go to church!
Always shoving your convictions down other peoples throats. When YOU have a problem with SIN, YOU go to the LORD. One glass of wine a day is actually good for you! But if you YOU have a problem with alcohol, then by all means don’t go there. Only stop telling the rest of us, that don’t have a problem with drinking a glass now and then that, we need to stop.
It’s like if someone has a problem with pornography they might need to stay away from the computer or what ever is causing them into sin. But should that same person say to the rest of us “stop using your computers”?
I can throw in Bible verses also. Like John 2: (Jesus turned water in to wine)
Proverbs 3: 9-10 (9 Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops;
10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.)
I can go on and on.
The point is, God doesn’t have a problem with some folks drinking alcohol. It’s between you and the LORD!
There is an old fishing term: “mind your own bobber”
And let’s not forget Paul told Timothy to drink a little wine to help whatever was ailing his stomach.
The Bible doesn’t forbid drinking wine; it forbids abusing a substance in any form. We shouldn’t abuse food; we shouldn’t abuse our own bodies; we shouldn’t abuse others’ bodies; we shouldn’t abuse time; we shouldn’t abuse access to the computer; we shouldn’t abuse our finances, etc., etc.. We each have our own struggles in different areas. To prohibit someone else from watching certain movies because I, myself, can’t handle a particular genre is to become legalistic. As you, Scotty, rightly said: we go to the Lord. He convicts us in our own sins, not the sins of other people. And what the Bible doesn’t outright prohibit for the masses, we shouldn’t then take it upon ourselves to prohibit from everyone, either.
Also, we should never use individual Bible verses to prop up our own soapbox. Scripture interprets Scripture, thus the Bible is to be used as a whole. Where one verse speaks against wine and another speaks for wine, we need to read the verses in context and with regard to Scripture as a whole, noting exactly what God is saying.
Alcohol is a stumbling block to many. When you set the example that it is ok you are putting out a stumbling block for others, possibly a loved one. Adrian Rogers did a wonderful sermon on the use of alcohol, you should check it out.
